Still Waiting…

…for my first good post-Comrades run. I did intervals tonight with the Fleet Feet crowd. On tap was 2 x 400, 2 x 800, and 2 x 1200. The temperature at 7 PM, starting time, was 96 degrees. That just isn’t right. Anyway, I ended up doing 2 x 400, 2 x 800, 1 x 800, and 1 x 400. After I dropped out of the last interval I talked to Dave Spetnagel, our coach guy, and asked him how long I should expect to take to recover from my run. He suggested one day for each mile run.

So, 55.5 days. It has only been 46 days as of today, so I’ve got 9 and 1/2 more days of crappy running before everything gets better. Now that I know the end of this trouble is in sight I’m very happy!

  • I’ve read that you should take one day OFF for every mile raced. But I just can’t stomach taking 26.2 days off after a marathon. I take 2-3 days off and then start back with some light runs. I can see that it would take 26.2 days to FULLY recover, though.

Take it easy! You’ve just completed an epic run! I’m so envious. ;)

  • Even with the time off, you can say that you ran comrads. Not many people can say that.
