Comrades Marathon, Durban, South Africa, May 30, 2010: Brian (10:34:21) and Jason (11:42:39) conquer the ultimate human race. In fact this has to be the single greatest footrace in the entire world.
Make Tracks for the Zoo 5K, Forest Park, St. Louis, May 23, 2010: Brian finished in 21:42 and Kathy in 31:03 in one of the best 5Ks held in St. Louis. The 80 degree heat/70% humidity wasn’t too friendly.
Flying Pig Marathon, Cincinnati, OH, May 2, 2010: Brian ran 4:05:08, Jason did 4:35:16, and Kathy ran 2:30:52 in the half. Last long run before Comrades!
Ozark Mountain 50K, Bolivar, MO, April 17th, 2010: This 50K along a former rail bed was Brian (4:56:50) and Jason’s (5:29:54) first ultra marathon. Kathy ran the 10 miler and recorded her own PR at 1:42:40.
Go! St. Louis Marathon, April 11, 2010: Kathy’s relay team banged out the course in 4:29, Jason strolled thru in 4:54:53 and Brian quit after 20 miles getting a big DNF in his permanent record.
The Lincoln Memorial Half Marathon, Springfield, IL, April 3, 2010: Jason set a new PR after blazing the course in 1:56:35. Brian ran a solid race finishing in 1:46:54 but letting Abe Lincoln carrying a flag finish 5 minutes in front of him.
Undy 5000, St. Louis, March 27, 2010: Brian donned SpongeBob SquarePants sleep pants and burned up the course in 22:08.
Little Rock Marathon, Little Rock, Arkansas, March 7, 2010: Brian set a new PR by running 3:56:31, Jason nudged under the five hour mark by 11 seconds on very little training, and Kathy bashed to the finish of the half marathon in 2:23:17.
SLTC Frostbite Series – 15K, February 6th, 2010: Brian clocked 1:10:52 for a PR. Placed 8th overall in division for the series!
SLTC Frostbite Series – Half Marathon, January 23rd, 2010: Brian whips out a 1:41:22 PR while Jason accomplishes a major goal by setting a PR and breaking 2 hours in the half, finishing in 1:57:30!
Disney Marathon and 1/2 Marathon, Walt Disney World, FL, January 9-10, 2010: Brian (2:02:01), Kathy (2:24:43), and Jason (2:25:12) ran the half marathon in the sleety rain on Saturday then Brian (4:27:43) and Jason (5:18:31) turned around and ran the marathon on Sunday. We’re Goofy!
SLTC Frostbite Series – 10 Miles, December 26, 2009: Brian (87:54) set a PR during what was just a nice little training run in 28 degree weather in Forest Park.
SLTC Frostbite Series – 12K, December 12, 2009: Brian (56:28), Jason (65:03), and Kathy (72:58) all braved the cold for this 12K race. All of us set PRs since we never raced 12K before!
Marine Corps Marathon, Washington, DC, October 25, 2009: Jason qualified for the 2010 Comrades with a 4:50:01! Kathy finished her first marathon in a 5:32:04, while Brian ran in support of her and finished in 5:31:57.
GO! St. Louis Halloween 10K, St. Louis, MO, October 18th, 2009: Brian, 48:09; Jason, 59:19, Rocio, 59:19, and Kathy, 59:20 all set 10K PRs during this cool race. And all in costume too!
The United States Air Force Marathon, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, September 19, 2009: Brian ran a personal best 4:06:04 marathon. Jason went 2:14:49 for the half and Kathy put down a 2:15:49 half both in training for the Marine Corps Marathon.
Lewis and Clark Half Marathon, St. Charles, MO, September 13, 2009: Kathy (2:12:28) and Jason (2:04:33) set new PRs and Brian (1:51:43) laid down a good time training for his marathon the following week. Results…
St. Louis University Cancer Center 5K, St. Louis, MO, August 29, 2009: Brian – 21:10, New PR, 2nd in age group; Jason – 24:13, New PR, 5th in age group; Kathy – 28:41, New PR, 1st in age group! I guess the Fleet Feet speedwork did help!
Major League Baseball All Star Charity 5K, St. Louis, MO, July 12, 2009: Brian smoked the course in 22:22 finishing 239 of 5151 runners (17th in age group) and Kathy cleaned house in 29:17, finishing 552 of 2715 women and 56th in her group; both setting personal records for the 5K! Results…
Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K, St. Louis, MO, June 13, 2009: Over 66,000 people participated in this event for charity. The race was not chip timed and fairly uncompetitive – Kathy and Brian clocked in at 31:08.

Go! St. Louis Marathon and 1/2 Marathon, St. Louis, MO, April 19, 2009: Brian (4:54:37) and Jason (PR – 5:13:05) ran thru the steady rain to complete the marathon while Kathy (PR – 2:25:20) chugged in the half marathon. Missouri is now blue! Pictures…
Living Well Foundation 10K, Imperial, MO, March 28th, 2009: Brian and Kathy braved the cold, rain, and wind to complete this small 10K. Kathy set her personal record, finishing the hilly course in 65:13 and Brian pulled in with a respectable 50:59 time.
Austin Marathon, Austin, TX, February 15, 2009: Brian ran this one solo with Kathy in attendance as support. First marathon for Team Flash. Brian made it to the finish, shaking off injury, in 4:39:18…Pictures
Surf City Half Marathon, Huntington Beach, CA, February 1, 2009: Jason went solo in this one, with a plan to set his own personal record. He was successful, finishing in 2:17:05. After finishing, we determined he must drink more liquid to improve his performance…Jason’s Pictures
St. Jude’s ½ Marathon, Memphis, TN, December 6, 2008: Kathy and Brian both ran this race. The week prior, Kathy announced she was going to run as long as she felt good. Brian tore up the course and finished in 1:47:55. Then, to his great relief, he watched Kathy come into the stadium and finish in 2:48:04. She finished the race and didn’t die! Gumbo Flats 10K, Chesterfield, MO, October 25, 2008: This annual event in the Chesterfield Valley is run on a flat out and back course. Kathy and Brian both signed up for this race. Kathy trained for this event by suffering a heart attack three weeks before the race. That impacted her time, so she ended up doing the 5K in 49:53, while Brian ran the 10K and finished in 49:15.
Country Music ½ Marathon, Nashville, TN, April 26, 2008: This was Brian’s first official timed race in 23 years. Jason and Brian ran together for the first mile at about a 9:30 pace. At that point Brian said, “Time to speed up.” Jason responded with “Time to slow down.” They shook hands and ran their own races. Brian finished in 2:04:13 just edging out Jason in 2:32:28. Las Vegas 1/2 Marathon, Las Vegas, NV, December 2, 2007: Jason ran this 1/2 marathon which started the whole Team Flash thing (even though when he ran it Team Flash didn’t exist). This was his first ever competitive race and he made it his bitch after 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 58 seconds on the road.
