Our destination after Hlulhuwe was the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Park. This group of reserves, forests, and parks is unique enough that it was named a world heritage site. After Comrades, we still had a vacation to get on with. We motored up the north coast and headed to Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Game Reserve. This ‘Big 5’ reserve was established in 1895, making it the oldest game reserve in South Africa. The big five of Africa are rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard and [...] On a glorious Wednesday afternoon, Kathy and I took a shuttle to Lambert St. Louis International Airport. It was the start of a tedious twenty six hour journey to get to Durban. Each of us carried one overhead bin sized bag containing all our needed worldly possessions while Kathy burdened herself with a second [...] Yesterday, my first cousin once removed, Fr. Tony, visited the clan in St. Louis, while driving thru on vacation. I organized the tribe (Jason, Rocio, Kim, Cynthia, Wes, Val, Kathy, and I) and we met for dinner at Espino’s. Tony also invited another couple who he knew and we had a great time catching [...] Team Flash descended on Little Rock, Arkansas this weekend to participate in the race weekend they planned for us (race tagline – It’s a Natural). Kathy ran the 13.1 distance while Jason and I took on the 26.2. This race was a nice change from our two previous marathons – Marine Corps and Disney. [...] Jason and I entered the Goofy club this weekend, finishing both the Disney Half Marathon and Disney Marathon within the required cut off times. Kathy also brought home her medal for completing the half. Our achievement means that Florida has fallen to Team Flash in our assault on the fifty states. One of my college buddies, Dan piloted Jason and I safely through the trip.
